the inscription "VÖLKERKRIEG 1914" (International War 1914) above and engraver marked "BALMBERGER" below

with minor enamel loss to cross at tips as well as to reverse centre

Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer Enlisted Ranks Cap Insignia visually-hidden measuring 99 mm x 50(Waffen SS Mtzenabzeichen fr Mannschaften der Panzertruppe). Constructed of black rayon, the obverse overlaid by a black machine embroidered trapezoid, in turn bearing a Totenkopf topped by an SS style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, both executed in silver grey machine embroidery, unmarked, measuring 80 mm (w) x 50 mm (h), in unissued and extremely fine condition.
